Nestled in among lush wooded hills, Santa Maria offers a sweeping view of the lovely Orcia Valley. Even though it is on the outskirts of the La Foce property, it sits on its own 15 acres of woodlands and beautifully terraced gardens designed by the famous English landscape architect, Peter Curzon. On one of the terraces lies the 16’ x 30’ swimming pool and below that is a parking lot, not visible from the house. Completely restored in 1999 the house is decorated with the original colors of Sienese farmhouses, pale yellow, pink and blue. A few fine antiques are mixed in with the simple, attractive local furnishings and the kitchen and bathrooms are equipped with every modern convenience.
The large country kitchen is an ideal place for dining, but on warm days to eat in the loggia with its barbecue and traditional wood-burning pizza oven. Better yet, if you prefer to dine under the vine covered pergola, which runs long the front of the house, you’ll have a stunning view of the Orcia valley.
