La Selva is a recently restored 250-year old farmhouse 40 minutes south of Siena. It stands in its own grounds at the head of a secluded valley of cornfields, Mediterranean pines and poplars, 1.2 kms from the village of San Giovanni d'Asso with lovely panoramic views of the castle of San Giovanni and the surrounding Crete hills. The village is on the road between Asciano and Torrenieri. This is ideal walking and riding country with thermal baths, tennis courts, restaurants and bars nearby. Within minutes are many historic towns, such as Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano and the famous monasteries of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant'Anna in Camprena with their celebrated frescoes. The house is L shaped on two floors, built of warm Sienese stone and brick, surrounded by wide terracotta terraces, lawns, olive groves and gardens of aromatic shrubs and herbs and is ringed by ancient mulberry trees and huge old cypresses. The decor is a most attractive mix of comfortable seating, antiques and country furniture, original artwork by the artist owner, and works of art from around the world. The upstairs rooms have high, beamed ceilings and splendid views over the garden and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. There is an additional bedroom and bath in a renovated barn across the courtyard. The pool is 12 x 4.5 meters (2 meters deep at the deep end) and has an ozone sterilization system making it virtually chemical free. It is surrounded by lovely stone terraces.
